I hear you have a concert this weekend ! - We just had one and had a great night,we even raised a bit of cash for our funds (photos on harmonylincs.org)
Hope you all have a great night,i'm sure Angelo will look great in his Khaki's
I heard you singing at the 2006 annual Zonta Fair in Indooroopilly and loved your rendition of 'Edelweiss'! It is my dad's favourite song and, as I am far from home at the moment, it was wonderful listening to your perfectly harmonious voices. Thanks very much for the experience! Hope to "hear" from you again soon,
I live most of the year in Spain where I sing as a Bass in The Torrevieja Barbershop Harmonisers. We have recently run a free 'Sing In Harmony' course, as a result of which we more than doubled our membership. Of course, this is giving us some problems, such as ALL of us, new and old, learning a new repertoire, so that the new men don't feel like second-class members.
The real purpose of this e-mail though is to find out if it would be possible for me to come and sing with you in one of your rehearsals. I shall be in Brisbane for a few days (27th-29th October), and if that fits in, I would take great pleasure in seeing you all.
By the way, I attended the BABS Convention in Harrogate, England, from May 19th to May 21st, and it was brilliant. Cambridge Chord Company won the Chamion Chorus award again--, and the Champion Quartet for 2006-7 is Pitch Invasion.
My brother in law Angelo has recently joined you in the Lead section and is really enjoing the singing. This was after mentioning to him last year that I had attended a singing course with Harmony Lincs here in the UK and was really enjoying being in a chorus.
.We are currently preparing for a competition on the 17th March and singing Wonderful world and Hello Mary Lou ( I have just been listening to your recording of Wonderful world which sounds great!)
Great website!-if you get a chance have a look at ours.
Thanks for a very interesting read on the history of the Clippers and of Barbershop in general.
Was very impressed with your Web Site.
Congratulations on your recent performance at Regionals!
Best wishes for your future success!
G'day from the cold northern side of the world. No problems with snow in Vancouver, though. It's much like a Hobart winter. That's not much good to a sun-seeking Queenslander, but the lovely Corinne warms my heart!
I trust all is going well with your new Magic director. He is a man of great skill and experience - you know I know this from first-hand experience - and will serve you well. How blessed the RCC is. First the great skills, talent and inspiration of Bill. Now the great skills, talent and inspiration of Mark.
News over here? Have I found permanent work yet? Sadly, not yet. But interviews are taking place. Fingers crossed. Am I actively involved in barbershop? Yes. I have joined the Gentlemen of Fortune chorus. They're a great bunch of guys. And they're busily learning 10 new songs for a June concert. Yes 10! It's proving a struggle for some but they love the music.
Anyway, hope you are all well. Please offer my greetings to all Clippers. I am alive and well over here. I'm still singing and involved. I miss friends and the warm weather (and watching the cricket!) but am enjoying establishing my new life. Photos of recent times are available to view at http://photos.yahoo.com/sx_john.
Great to see how The Clippers are doing. Makes me feel very nostalgic and a bit old perhaps. Looks like you only have one original member of The Barbertones still singing - congrats Mike, you were always the "baby" of the group and to quote you "kept the average age down"! We seem to have scattered a bit - Ian is in living in New Zealand, David Sheppard is living in Tasmania, and John Unsworth has been in Sydney for quite a few years now. I have lost touch with Brian and Neil, but I see Russell Fitzpatrick quite often at the Lyric Theatre, because I am still singing with Opera Queensland.
Anyway, congratulations to all for making a small chorus into a large successful one. I hope to see you singing somewhere "around the traps" in Brisbane in the future. Barbershop really is universal - the last time I heard some was at Jimbour House near Dalby, on Saturday 14th. I was there for an Opera Concert as part of the Brisbane Festival (not singing, just listening to some friends who were) and there was a small barbershop group entertaining the crowd before the show began. I don't know who they were, but the audience was enjoying hearing them, and I knew all of the songs!
Hi guys, I am visiting Autralia from the UK from December 8th 2009 until the end of January. As one of my passions is barbershop singing - I sing with Lincoln Harmony Group in Lincoln UK. I would appreciate the chance to attend one of ypour rehearsals during my visit. For some of my time I will be staying in Forest Lake, Brisbane. I am not sure where you are in relation to that area but my son will probably know how to find you.
