Learn to sing for free
Ready, Set? Sing!Lots of men love to sing!
Whether it’s in the shower, in the car or at a Karaoke night, virtually all men LOVE TO SING. Most were discouraged at school from participating in non-sporting activities. Many have never learned to sing properly so they can enjoy singing in front of other people without fear or embarrassment, or they’ve never found where or with whom they could learn.
The Brisbane River City Clippers are looking forward to welcoming you to Ready, Set? Sing! This will be an enjoyable 4-week program in vocal singing techniques that will be sure to help singers of all experience levels. It will be led by our Musical Director, Cathie Neil assisted by Andrew Rasmussen, one of our most talented Bass singers.
Each lesson will provide instruction on the basics of singing. You do not need to be able to read music to enjoy this course. If you can sing in the shower or along with the radio or can carry a tune, this is for you.
The classes will be held at our regular rehearsal location at St Laurence’s College, 82 Stephens Road, South Brisbane. Parking is available inside the Stephens Road main college entry, and the rehearsal venue is the McElligott Theatre adjacent to the parking area.
Classes begin at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Please plan to arrive at 6:45 pm so we may sign you in and provide you with a name tag. If you find yourself running a few minutes late, don’t worry! Someone will be available to greet you even after things have started. Participants will “warm up” vocally with members of the Clippers and then move on to undertake the vocal lessons, returning after an hour to share a “cuppa” with Clippers members. You are then welcome to leave or, if you wish, to stay and observe the chorus complete its regular evening rehearsal.
Dress casualy and feel free to wear comfortable clothing and shoes as most of the singing is done whilst standing. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water with you, as good hydration is vital for good singing.
Classes will continue for four weeks and will cover the following topics:
- Breath control and posture
- Vowels, diphthongs and range expansion
- Barbershop style
Registration for the course is limited and will be offered on a “first come, first served” basis. To register, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Howard Haddrell on 0402 226 362.
